That is a headline I’ve been waiting two years to write. The Edmonton Poetry Festival is back and we’ve got a week of fantastic events planned for you. There are a variety of readings and performances happening at a variety of venues at a variety of times so you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes. The full schedule is up on the website: Edmonton Poetry Festival Schedule
Admission to most readings is by donation but the Festival is asking that you do register prior to the event you want to attend so we can keep track of space requirements.
While not mandatory, the Festival does encourage you to wear a mask while enjoying the readings. For those who are not quite ready for in-person events, the University of Alberta Press is back with its mainstay Literary Cocktails as an online event.
Speaking of the pandemic, Friday night is lost launch night! From 4:00 to 5:30, Lisa Martin and Jason Purcell read for their books that came out during the pandemic. From 6:00 to 7:30, Catherine Owen and I will be reading from our books. Joining us at this reading will be the fantastic Youthwrite Spoken Word Choir. Both readings are at the stunning new Stanley Milner Library downtown. If you haven’t had a chance to see the building yet, now’s your chance!

It has been a long two years of having to translate, create, and participate through a screen. I’m not sure I even understand how much I am looking forward to sharing with you in person again. I’ll join you in the audience at an event and perhaps even see you at my reading on the Friday.
This is going to be so much fun!
